ABR Staff Writer Published 03 February 2012

Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) is planning to unveil the new 2012 MX-5 Miata special edition at the upcoming 2012 Chicago Auto Show in US.

The limited-edition model is powered by a 2.0-liter engine and is offered with either the six-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter or six-speed sport automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

The automaker said that the special edition model is based on the MX-5 Miata Grand Touring model.

According to Mazda, the production of the new model is to be limited to just 450 vehicles featuring premium and suspension packages including power retractable hard top (PRHT) and 17-inch alloys.

The company will also unveil MazdaTurbo2, GRAND-AM Road Racing Race Car, 1990 Miata and the Star Mazda Championship Open-Wheel Race Car at the show.
