Maserati unveils 2012 GranTurismo Sport

ABR Staff Writer Published 22 February 2012

Maserati, an Italian luxury car maker, has unveiled the 2012 GranTurismo Sport ahead of its debut at the upcoming 2012 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.

The new four seat sports coupe will replace the company's GranTurismo S and will be powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine which delivers a power of 454PS, allowing it to reach 100kmph mark in 4.8 seconds.

Rear wheels of the coupe are powered through a ZF six-speed automatic transmission or an optional sequential manual transmission with the same number of gears and both units feature steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, while they are an option on the automatic.

Maserati said that the new aerodynamically enhanced bumpers improve air-intake profiles which inturn enhance air-flow for both engine intake and brake cooling.

Maserati said that the production of the 2012 Gran Turismo Sport is scheduled to begin in September this year.
